Chief Executive Officer/Clinical Director-
Brian Pope is the CEO/Clinical Director at the Northwest Children’s Home (NCH) transitioning from the role of Director of Clinical. Brian worked in Residential Care Services in Pocatello, Idaho, for 3+ years at the Bannock Youth Foundation prior to moving to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where he worked for the State of Idaho in Child Protection/Welfare and Children’s Mental Health for 17 years. While with the State of Idaho he worked in Coeur d’Alene, the rural areas of Kellogg and St. Maries then moved to Genesee, Idaho, with his family and worked in Region 2 (Moscow, Lewiston, Grangeville and Orofino) as the Child Welfare Chief and then the Children’s Mental Health Chief. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with interest in family systems engagement, achieving positive treatment outcomes focused on healing youth in care, and leading a team in enhancing NCH services through quality Trauma-Informed practice. All of the youth that NCH serve have been traumatized on some level and cannot currently function in a home or community. The role of treatment staff at NCH is to help youth and their families heal through the specific treatment services and interventions provided. Some goals for enhancing NCH treatment services include: assessing current treatment modalities that align with Trauma-Informed practice; enhancing options for treatment staff to engage youth using tools that help them regulate their emotions/behaviors; increasing family visitation, contact and treatment; and increasing contact with placement referents involving them more in the treatment planning process.
